  1. I have been tasked with making a cape for a professional ballet production. My directions are as follows: full-length, full circle, heavy, lined with shimmery fabric that is sewn down and not loose from outer fabric, with rods inserted from the wrist to the floor so that the dancer can grasp the cape opening and be holding onto the rods and raise his hands over his head while still having the cape go to the floor and hide a dancer behind him. His neck is 16", each rod is 42" long, from his shoulder seam to the floor is 62". Advice? They want it heavy, but still able to flow and move well. If I got a heavier fabric I just worry that it would be way too heavy since there is so much yardage. I have previously only designed the costumes and taken pre-existing basics and embellished. I sew, yet I feel lost. Can you help?
